Matthew Michalewicz

Serial entrepreneur and former Ernst & Young management consultant, Matthew Michalewicz has 15 years of experience in starting, running, and exiting high–growth companies. He is the co–author of several books and publications, including Winning Credibility: A guide for building a business from rags to riches (www.Credibility.com.au), Adaptive Business Intelligence (www.AdaptiveBusinessIntelligence.com.au), and Puzzle-Based Learning: An introduction to critical thinking, mathematics, and problem solving (www.puzzlebasedlearning.edu.au/)

Prior to co–founding SolveIT Software Pty Ltd with several research organisations and computer scientists, Matthew served as the Chief Executive Officer of a high–tech company in the United States from 1999 - 2003. By raising US$15 million in venture capital and completing 4 multi–million dollar acquisitions, he grew the company to more than 150 employees in 6 international offices.

Matthew’s business achievements have been recognized by numerous publications, including Time Magazine, New York Times, Forbes, Wired Magazine, Business Journal, Associated Press, Ziff Davis, Information Week, NewsWeek, and many others. He was also named to Charlotte’s “40 under 40” list of accomplished business leaders by the Business Journal, “Alumnus of the Year” by the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, and “Entrepreneur of the Year” finalist by Ernst and Young.

In addition to being a Visiting Fellow at the University of Adelaide where he lectures on the subject of commercialisation, Matthew is also a Business Ambassador for the state of South Australia and a national judge for the Secrets of Australian IT Innovation contest. He serves on the Board of Directors of the South Australia Tourism Commission, the Independent Panel of Experts for the Intelligent Island Project, and the Council of Governors of the American Chamber of Commerce.

Matthew Michalewicz holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and Corporate Finance from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte; and a Company Directors Course Diploma from the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD).

Dr. Zbigniew Michalewicz

Internationally renowned new technologies expert, Zbigniew Michalewicz has published over 200 articles and 15 books on the subject of predictive data mining and logistics optimisation. These include the groundbreaking Adaptive Business Intelligence (www.AdaptiveBusinessIntelligence.com.au) and Winning Credibility: A guide for building a business from rags to riches (www.Credibility.com.au). Zbigniew is the Chair Professor in Artificial Intelligence at the University of Adelaide, and serves as Chairman of the Board for SolveIT Software Pty Ltd (www.SolveITSoftware.com), a company specialising in custom software solutions for demand forecasting, scheduling, and supply chain optimisation.

Zbigniew Michalewicz has over 25 years of academic and industry experience, and possesses expert knowledge of many Artificial Intelligence methods and modern heuristics. He has led numerous data mining and optimisation projects for major corporations such as General Motors, Ford Motor Company, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, PKN Orlen, and Dentsu, and for several government agencies in the United States of America and Poland. Zbigniew Michalewicz has also served as the Chairman of the Technical Committee on Evolutionary Computation, and later as the Executive Vice President of IEEE Neural Network Council. His scientific and business achievements have been recognized by countless publications, including TIME Magazine, Newsweek, New York Times, Forbes, and the Associated Press among others.

Zbigniew completed his Masters degree at Technical University of Warsaw in 1974 and he received Ph.D. degree from the Institute of Computer Science, Polish Academy of Sciences, in 1981. He also holds a Doctor of Science degree in Computer Science from the Polish Academy of Science, and in 2002 he received the title of “Professor” from the President of Poland, Mr. Alexander Kwasniewski. Zbigniew Michalewicz also holds Professor positions at the Institute of Computer Science, Polish Academy of Sciences, the Polish–Japanese Institute of Information Technology, and the State Key Laboratory of Software Engineering of Wuhan University, China. He is also associated with the Structural Complexity Laboratory at Seoul National University, South Korea.
